I liked the book. It was light and a fast read, and summers are especially good for these kinds of books. Reading about the NFL backdrop was interesting, as were the cello playing and the art league. Those societal niches are unfamiliar to me, so it was fun to read about them. I particularly liked the section in the Islands. I did guess the murderer, but it was a fun read anyway. My only criticism is that it was kind of long--I thought some of the NFL scenes could have been deleted without harming the plot. Even so, I enjoyed it.Product details

I down loaded this novel by Pat Dunlap Evans to read on my tablet on the beaches of Hawaii but when I checked into the plane(I usually watch movies on my tablet) I left my earbuds in my carry-on luggage which they took the gate☹️ I started reading this book and I couldn't put it down! By the time I landed I had finished this book! A very enjoyable read with a lot of twists and turns and a surprise ending! Loved it!!!
Easy, enjoyable, page turning book. Keeps you wondering throughout the book.
This mystery / suspense novel delivers all the thrills of a roller-coaster ride. It was hard to put down each night as I read before bedtime, and for me that's a big complement. The voice of the protagonist, Marie Donovan, is both endearing and believable. The backdrop of opera and the life of an NFL football player's wife made for a compelling read. Author, Dunlap--Evans clearly knows a lot about these two diverse subjects.
The ending has a final twist that even this seasoned mystery reader didn't guess. But I'll leave that for you, the reader, to figure out. Don't miss this clever, well-written thriller.
I'm a guy, but I really liked this novel!
This had me going from the start. I felt sorry for the main character, what with all these people setting her up, and then the ending was a complete surprise! Ms. Evans is an excellent story-teller and I felt along the way like I had a clear image of the scenery and characters. The dialog is engaging and realistic as well. I look forward to her follow-up mysteries!
The author uses her experience as an NFL wife to depict what they have to deal with. Well written and unexpected ending. Looking forward to reading more books from this fellow Texan.
I read this in two nights and was up all night the second night gr8 finish it. I had no idea who gr8 killer was and was totally shocked by the ending. I wish there was more of it to read.
I usually know all along "who did it." But this one, well, I was shocked by the ending. (Don't peek.) Now that I look back on the story, I see how the clues were placed. I fell in love with the main character Marie, but she was too trusting and gullible. I would not have done some of the things she did like go to Kerrville to visit Barry. But I fell in love with Marie and also her lawyer Ryan. I enjoyed learning about the pro football world--how the wives were treated. That must have been rough. But I loved how Marie finally found her way.
